All Aboard with buy.at & Affiliate Window

April 1st, 2011

On Wednesday 30th March, Affiliate Window and buy.at hosted its first travel sector event, All Aboard, on the historic Royal Navy Ship, HMS President. Attended by a variety of well-known travel brands including Expedia, Opodo, Best Western Hotels and Marriott International, the affair consisted of industry leading presentations, a mini-expo and an afternoon of informal networking.

Guest speaker Kevin May, Editor and Co-founder of tnooz took to the stage to offer insight on the impact of recent technological advances and impending changes to the structure of the travel vertical. His discussion included current challenges in the industry, specifically with regards to changes within airlines and hotels product distribution, and marketing strategies. Continuing, he touched on the entrance of Google as a key player to the sector with their 2010 acquisition of ITA Software. Kevin captured the audience’s attention by introducing some of the latest developments among the handheld device revolution including Apple’s patent pending app, itravel. To view Kevin’s presentation in its entirety, click here.

Owen Hewitson, Client Strategist for Affiliate Window & buy.at shared results from the network’s travel research study, which analysed three advertisers within the vertical, all of which are exclusive to the networks. The research concluded that although there are a large number of content and comparison sites in the sector, voucher code and cashback partners dominate market share within the affiliate travel industry. Additionally, it was interesting to learn that the vast majority of affiliate driven sales convert the first day; more importantly within the first 30 minutes of the initial click-through. For further details on the research study and to view Owen’s full-length data analysis presentation, click here.

All Aboard is the latest in a series of successful sector events. We feel the sharing of industry insights coupled with informal networking strikes the right balance, helping advertisers, agencies and publishers to connect whilst offering something new for everyone to reflect on.” says Kevin Edwards, Strategy Director for Affiliate Window and buy.at.

New Ticketmaster Extended Feed

October 1st, 2010

We are pleased to announce an innovative new feed for Ticketmaster UK.

The new Ticketmaster Extended feed is an amalgamation of the following existing data:
* Events
* Artists
* Venues
* Categories

In the standard Events feed, the artist, venue and category is identified by an ID which requires the affiliate to cross reference the relevant feed to get the attribute (e.g. Artist name, Event name). Quite a few affiliates have found integrating this data to be a challenge and so to assist them we have created a new Extended version of the Events feed, which includes all the same events as the standard Events feed but also includes enhanced attributes for each event.

The extended attributes are as follows:
* Venue Name
* Artist Name
* Category name
* Artist Image
* Country
* Venue Image
* Venue Post Code

This new product information will make things a lot easier for affiliates and we feel this will be a popular addition to the existing array of Ticketmaster feeds. It will be updated at the same times as the other TM UK feeds (currently at 7.45am, 10am, 2pm, 7pm) and will run alongside, not replace, the existing Events feed.

To start using it, please head to your management area and grab the feed named “Ticketmaster UK – Extended”; the ID of the feed is 701.

If you have any questions or feedback then please get in touch.

Regards,

Simon
